Everything you need to know about foot reflexology
Foot reflexology is a treatment in which specific zones on the feet are worked with targeted pressure from the thumbs and fingers. It is based on the idea that these zones are connected to organs and regions of the body. At SADEA in Zurich-Oerlikon, I use it to relax and strengthen the whole body.
You lie comfortably with your legs slightly raised. After a short conversation about how you are feeling, I look at your feet and examine them by touch. I then work the reflex zones with varying pressure, from gentle to clearly noticeable, adjusting it with you throughout. The session ends with a calm winding-down phase.
Many people use foot reflexology for relaxation in times of stress and restlessness, for sleep problems, for tension or to support their general well-being. It is a complementary medicine method and does not replace medical treatment. In our first conversation, I will tell you honestly which goals are realistic for you.
Yes, partly, through supplementary insurance for complementary medicine. SADEA is recognised by most supplementary insurers and EMR certified. Basic insurance does not pay. How much your insurer covers depends on your plan – it is best to ask before the first appointment. You receive a reimbursement receipt after every treatment.
Step by step: How reimbursement works.
No, it should not be painful. Individual zones may feel sensitive or slightly tender, especially at the first appointment. I adjust the pressure immediately if it becomes too much for you. Most people find the treatment very pleasant and relaxing, and the feet often become noticeably warm during the session.
I do not treat in case of fever or acute inflammation, thrombosis or phlebitis, or open wounds, athlete’s foot or fresh injuries on the feet. During pregnancy, or with serious cardiovascular disease or cancer, I first clarify with you, and if in doubt with your doctor, whether treatment is possible.
How are you feeling, what would you like to achieve, and are there any reasons against treatment?
