How I work

Five principles of my back and neck treatment

  1. 01

    Cause before symptom

The initial assessment shows where the problem comes from – pain is not always felt where it originates.

  2. 02

    Measured pressure

As firm as necessary, as gentle as possible. You have a say at all times.

  3. 03

    The whole muscle chain

The neck, shoulders and back work together – that is why I do not only treat the painful spot.

  4. 04

    Time and calm

I take time for every person, in a calm atmosphere and without time pressure.

  5. 05

    A clear plan

Technique, duration and number of sessions, discussed openly.

What helps with neck tension?

Neck tension is best relieved by a targeted massage of the neck and shoulder muscles, combined with movement and a more relaxed posture in everyday life. At SADEA in Zurich-Oerlikon, I release the tense muscles manually and discuss with you what will ease the strain day to day, so the tension does not return straight away.

Does massage help with back pain?

Yes, with muscular back pain a massage can bring real relief: it loosens hardened muscles, promotes circulation and improves mobility. This applies to much back pain caused by long periods of sitting or repetitive strain. In case of numbness, paralysis or pain after an accident, please have it examined by a doctor first.

What can I do about restricted mobility in the neck and back?

If you can no longer turn your head freely or find it hard to bend down, shortened or tense muscles are often behind it. In the treatment I combine massage strokes with gentle stretches to regain movement step by step. I discuss with you how many sessions make sense after the initial assessment.

Does massage help with tension headaches?

Tension headaches often originate from tense neck and shoulder muscles. A targeted massage of these areas can help reduce how often and how strongly the headaches occur. If you have sudden, very severe or new types of headache, or visual disturbances or dizziness, please have the cause examined by a doctor first.

When should I see a doctor first about back pain?

See a doctor first if the pain follows an accident or fall, radiates into the legs, is accompanied by numbness, tingling or loss of strength, comes with fever or gets much worse at night. The cause must then be clarified before any massage. Afterwards, I am happy to treat you in consultation with your doctor.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about back and neck treatment

Your question is not listed? Send me a short message — reply on the same working day.

How often should I come for neck tension?

At the start, two to three sessions one to two weeks apart often make sense. After that, many people find one treatment every few weeks enough for prevention. I discuss the plan with you after the initial assessment.

Does health insurance cover the back and neck treatment?

Yes, partly through supplementary insurance. SADEA is recognised by most supplementary insurers and is EMR certified. Basic insurance does not pay. After each treatment you receive a reimbursement receipt for your insurer.

Which duration makes sense for the back and neck?

For the neck and shoulders alone, 50 minutes (CHF 150.–) is usually enough. If the neck and the whole back are affected, I recommend 70 minutes (CHF 195.–), and 90 minutes (CHF 240.–) for several problem areas.

Do I need a medical prescription?

Not for a treatment at SADEA. Some supplementary insurers require a doctor’s recommendation for reimbursement – it is best to check this with your insurer before your first appointment. Treatment is also available in English.
